Solid, ripe and tasty, with hard rubber, dark berry and toast on the nose. Jammy and big on first take, yet it runs a bit thin once you bore your way to the center. Still, everything is lively and easy to like. Would be just right with a burger fresh off the grill. - M.S.

Tasting Notes:
From Flichman Barrancas vineyards, some 700 meters above sea-level comes Paisaje de Barrancas a 75/20/5 blend of syrah/merlot/cabernet sauvignon ... Look for a massive white pepper, licorice/garrigue nose with minty, black berry jam and mocha notes. The entry is fat ripe, rich and dry with good concentration and some tight tannin but balanced. Loads of black olive, black pepper, menthol, chocolate, black berry jam mixes with smoky, meaty flavours. A touch warm and rustic on the finish but has great fruit intensity. The wine offers an intense and concentrated nose of red berry fruit mixed with touches cedar, mint and sweet spice. The palate is full of ripe, concentrated red currant and cassis fruit flavors with notes of cigar box and spicy black pepper. The finish is long and structured, with finely grained tannins.
